Jack Man says:Funny you should put this up. I was just in New Orleans in a culinary cooking school. Bread pudding was one of the dishes I learned. Here is the recipe. Whiskey sauce is the same just more bourbon.
Bread Pudding
1 10oz. loaf of stale french bread. You can also use Cinnamon buns, Rolls, Dounuts or any stale bread mixture. Be creative.
4 cups Milk or you can use part Egg Nog for Christmas.
2 Cups sugar
8 TBLS butter melted
3 eggs
2 TSP Vanilla
1 Cup raisins
1 Cup Coconut
1 TSP Cinnamon
1 TSP Nutmeg
You can add a little pina colata mix too if you like. Or any flavor rum or any other flavor you might like. Again be creative.
You can also add any fruit that you like. Peaches, or Blue Berries, Raspberrys etc.
Procedure
Combine all ingredients. Mixture should be very moist but not soupy. our into buttered 9"X12" baking dish or larger. Place into non-preheated oven. Bake at 350 degrees fro approx. 1 Hour and 15 minutes, until golden brown. Serve Warm with Sauce.
Other styles can be done with choc chips, m&m's or add Tia Maria,or Amaretto, Chocolate, or coffee or banana liqueur.
Whiskey Sauce
8 TBLS butter (1 stick)
1 1/2 Cup Confectionist sugar or powdered sugar.
2 Egg Yolks
1/2 Cup Bourbon (to taste)
Procedure
Cream Butter and sugar over medium heat until all butter is absorbed. Remove from heat and blend in egg yolk. Pour in bourbon gradually to your own taste, stirring constantly. Sauce Will thicken as it cools. Serve warm over warm bread pudding
