I ran across a gin made in WA state over the weekend. It's called Dry Fly (www.dryflydistilling.com/main.php), but it's only available in WA and ID. I must say it's mighty damn tasty and one could easily take down far too many gimlets without noticing until it's too late.

In England there is a company called Pimms.

Pimms makes 6 types of Liquors. Each has a number.
each number represents a type of alcohol. There is Gin, Scotch, Vodka, Rye, Bourbon and I forgot the sixth.

Pimms no. 1 is the only one you can get in the united states and it is Gin.

A most unusual Gin as its the color of Bourbon.

In England they have a drink called a Pimms Cup. It is served in a pewter cup. Its Pimms No1 and soda, 7up or ginger ale and a cucumber is put in it. Sometimes a celery stick it added instead.

Its one of the few drinks the English serve with ice so the Pewter Cup sweats as you drink it.

While I like the drink I have improved on it for myself. I make it with Pimms No1, Ginger Ale and I put a slice or two of apple in it.

I love it and while it really is gin it doesnt taste like the gin your used to.

I store my Pimms in the freezer so its real cold when I make it.

I've had gin at most three times that I can remember. Only brand name I can remember is Beefeater and Mohawk. Hated it everytime, but was enough of a trooper college kid to finish my glass. In spite of that, the post above this one sounds mighty tasty.

Summer drinks when I don't know what I want consists of Beefeater and Tonic with a wedge of lime.

Well I picked up some Dryfly tonight. But I'm going to have to wait to uncork it until I'm not sick anymore.. its taunting me sitting on the kitchen counter begging to be opened.

It's very smooth - it has a nice gin taste, but not overwhelmingly junipery.

Not a bad idea, there GJ. We just perfected the Dry Fly Gimlet this evening:

3 oz Dry Fly Gin
1 oz lime juice (fresh)
1 oz simple syrup (50% granulated sugar, 50% water)

I think I could drink these all night. Much to my liver's chagrin. This recipe may be a bit too sweet for some of you, so you might want to dial back the amount of simple syrup.
